Orchestra of Harmonicas of Ponte de Sor - Portugal

The Cultural Association Harmonicas Orchestra of Ponte de Sor has existed since 1942, under the initial designation of Mindagos. From 1980 on its name became Orquestra de Harmónicas de Ponte de Sor.

Its preferential activities are centred in the gathering of traditional melodies from Portugal and its regions, as well as in their instrumental adaptation and public performance.

The orchestra performs these melodies using the mouth-organ which is a musical instrument widely rooted in the Portuguese folk music.

It is our wish both to keep and to increase the taste for folk music and for the use of this instrument among the younger generations.
